We're Figuring My(self) Out

This exhibition explored identity formation as a social thing. It consisted of several first attempts at conveying an idea through metaphor, that was added to and annotated by the guests throughout the month of open hours and workshops in the space. These attempts, varying in medium and depth, were meant to stimulate conversation and collaboration, ultimately to lead to a second show the following year in which the themes and metaphors would be expanded through group work with the visitors of the original show.
The central idea of the exhibition was the negotiation of future selves, how people realize and manage who they see themselves to be in relationship to others, both consciously and unconsciously. It took inspiration from natural occurrences of collaboration and resource sharing, material interactions like weaving and knotting, and used direct references to lived experiences to bring more clarity when the metaphors got too convoluted.
The exhibition changed as it went on, and the videos below show it's state before the opening and on one of the evenings in the middle of the show's run, yellow sticky notes and a further development of the interactive rope installation can be seen.
